5 Steps To Stop Procrastinating!

Why is it when we have all the time in the world to get something done, it always comes down to the last minute? There is always something more important… Yes, almost all of us said that at least once. So, it’s time to stand up and fight with the terrible monster called Procrastination! Just talk about it like friends usually do.

We are all guilty of it in some way or another, we always think oh that won’t take too long so I’ll just watch this mindless television show and do it a little later.  Then we fall asleep during that TV show and it is now 10 PM and it’s time and want to go to bed and have not yet even started that project.  Yep, been there, done that.

We all know how hard is to find the force inside and start doing what needs to be done. But the thing is it’s easy to defeat bad habits and stop procrastinating – it’s just the issue of believing.

5 Steps To Stop Procrastinating!

So what do we need to do to stop out procrastinating habits, here are 5 quick and easy tips that may actually make you on time for once in your life with a project.

Make a To Do List

Include everything that needs to be done for the project or for the day or for whatever you are trying to accomplish.  This way you don’t forget stuff. Mark stuff off the list when you are done.  Yea!  It took me 5 days but I got my name down on the top of the sheet of paper.

Later I realized myself that I can utilize technology, so I found a time management app to help myself get things done on time.

Remember to celebrate your accomplishments. But not like with a cocktail or anything because then you will just continue to cocktail and wont get the rest of the stuff done.

Do a 2 minute drill

That means if there is something that needs to be done on your list of chores or something that takes less than 2 minutes, then just do it right away.  Take out the garbage, wash the dishes, organize your documents. .. and many more.

Set periods of time to do nothing but work

Get rid of all distractions, maybe go to a separate room away from others in the home or workplace and just put your mind to work on nothing but the task at hand for 10 minutes.  You will probably see that ten, turn into 15 or 20 or 30 of concentrated effort.  I like working out of my home instead of the office to get stuff done.  Just lock myself in my home office and I accomplish so much more.

Give yourself a break

Even when you have lots of task to do ASAP, it’s really important to take a break sometimes. Your brain doesn’t work efficiently without 5 or more minutes of relax, so ensure it a moment ro recover. I normally do that unintentionally by staring at the computer screen until I fall asleep in front of it and then worry if someone walked past my office while snoozing.  So make sure you shut your door and doze away baby.

Motivate yourself!

Have a special treat just for when you get the job or task accomplished.  Maybe it is a chocolate bar, a good drink, taking your spouse on a special date.  We are all reward driven, so get that job done and bask in the moment of that self-given award at the end of the day!
